Family
When I met my wife for the first time in 1979 I was a broken soul who’s faith in love had been fractured by a season of failed loves and disappointment. I had resolved to be content with my life as a solitary man.
I met Pam through our involvement with the Tyrone Gardner Guards Sr Drum and Bugle Corps. I didn't make a very good first impression. But as the months passed we grew to be friends. We both loved marching and music. We had a lot of fun together, mostly we laughed and laughed, which some folks found rather annoying, but we didn't care.
I didn't have much money back then. I was working as a real estate agent and interest rates were nearly 18%! I was fortunate enough to both list and sell a property in Altoona, PA which gave me enough money to buy a modest engagement ring. When the deal closed on March 8th 1980, I was took my commission check to the bank and raced to jewelry store to pick the ring just before the store closed. When I showed up a Pam's home in Huntingdon she couldn't understand why I was taking her out for dinner in the middle of the week. When I popped the ring box open and she saw her engagement ring for the first time, she cried. We were married May 8th, 1982.
